Summer fashion trends that aren’t just meant for the ramp

Story Antara Bose

Fashion shows are definitely entertaining. We’ve all witnessed some outrageous cuts, striking colours, and combinations that can raise an eyebrow. But the truth is, most of us would probably think twice before flaunting something straight off the ramp. That’s why we’ve rounded up a list of ten things that are not just fashionable, but also wearable.

Sheer – To give a summery feel to a simple top, throw on a bright organza shrug over it. You can also layer a strappy monotone dress with a printed chiffon top.

Puffed sleeves – This trend does not seem to be going out of fashion in 2020 either (yes to sporting the same tops). This year the puffed sleeves have gotten bigger and bolder, but you can totally stick to a size that works for you. The thing about puffed sleeves is that it works for all body types. No surprise how it managed to stick around for so long.

Strappy tie-ups – A dress is incomplete without the right pair of shoes. So if you’ve got everything else in your wardrobe aligned, just opt for a pair of strappy shoes (flats or stilettos) that you can tie up to your ankles at least.

Tropical prints and giant florals – Anything that you can find in the forest, you can have it printed on your dress, and it will qualify as fashionable. But don’t restrict yourself to greens; there are tons of other colors you can play with. If you’re thinking florals, think large flowers that can make a statement on their own.

Cinched waists –
What does a dress cinched at the waist do? Well, it gives the illusion of an hour-glass figure, of course. Now, who wouldn’t like that!

Pleated skirts – If youdon’t know what to wear, but the occasion demands you look like you took the time to pick your outfit, opt for a pleated skirt. They’re feminine, fancy, and can be paired with almost anything.

Neon shades – We know what you’re thinking. Who wears neons apart from models on the runway?! But here’s the thing – you don’t have to mimic the head-to-toe-in-neon look. Simply introduce a pop of neon to your attire. It could be shoes, a belt, or even a scarf.

Flowy whites –
There has been no summer fashion list without the eternal white. But don’t make it boring. Opt for asymmetrical cuts for something wild, add some lace to make it look classy, or wear a long satin dress as a fancy evening wear.

Waistcoats – If you didn’t donate your waistcoat yet, you’re in luck! This season we’re seeing waistcoats paired with more than just formal suits. So don’t be shy to experiment and make your own statement.

Classic blue – How could the Pantone colour of the year not be on our list! The best thing about the colour is that it includes denims. And who doesn’t like denims, right?
Pleated skirts – If youdon’t know what to wear, but the occasion demands you look like you took the time to pick your outfit, opt for a pleated skirt. They’re feminine, fancy, and can be paired with almost anything.
